Polish Politician Invites Covington MAGA Students to Speak Before Parliament | Dr. Steve Turley – YouTube

Dr. Steve Turley (who I wish would use slightly fewer exclamation points and all-caps in his titles… *grin*) comments on the Covington Catholic High School students who were accosted by both “Black Hebrew Israelites” and by Native American activists, and the fact that they have been invited to speak before the Polish Parliament.

He notes, in the process, that some folks abroad have shown them more respect than their own Diocese, which was quick to throw them under the bus when the first false reports started to come out – even speaking of possible expulsion – but which has been notably silent since it became all too clear that this was a textbook example of “fake news.”

He calls upon the Diocese of Covington to publicly exonerate the students, and apologize for its quickness to believe the worst, before all the facts were in. I agree with him! They should – but I’m not going to hold my breath until it happens. A shame that the Diocese seems to have so little moral courage.

What kind of example does that set, for its students?

It is one of the great ironies of our present age – though given the way God has been seen to work in history, it should come as no surprise – that it is Eastern and Central Europe that seems to hold the greatest promise for saving the West. Here, thanks to Dr. Steve Turley’s YouTube channel, is a lovely video montage of Christmas in Poland. Enjoy, as our Polish brothers and sister show us how it’s done!

Two Kings and “The Lord of the Rings” [on King Jan Sobieski III and the Lifting of the Siege of Vienna, 1683) | The Imaginative Conservative

The romanticism in Tolkien’s great saga was inspired partly by the actions of King Jan Sobieski during the Battle of Vienna in 1683, when Christian Europe stemmed the advance of militant Islam… (click the link below to read the full essay by Dwight Longenecker)

Although the battle which ultimately lifted the Siege of Vienna – capital of the Holy Roman Empire, and the gateway to Europe – by the Ottoman Turks in 1683 began on the 11th of September, I want to use the date to highlight primarily the tragic, yet also at times heroic, events of 9/11/2001. Nonetheless, because the great battle that saved Europe from domination by the Muslim Turks did begin on this day, I am posting this “teaser” on the event! I’ll post more on it tomorrow.

The author of the article quotes historian and biographer Militiades Varvounis:

“Jan Sobieski was one of the most illustrious rulers ever to command an army. He gained glory and fame in his thirties through his exceptional military skills and he was acknowledged as the greatest warrior-king of his time throughout the rest of his turbulent life. His patriotism, his strong faith and hope in God, his military reputation, his taste for arts and letters, and his talents—all these were legendary in his lifetime. Since World War II, no English work has been published about the king who saved Europe from the warriors of Islam at the Battle of Vienna (1683); a battle which was the inspiration for J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic cavalry charge of the Rohirrim that lifted the Siege of Minas Tirith in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.”

Since my undergraduate, and a great deal of my graduate, studies were focused on the Middle Ages, I was not until fairly recently familiar with this battle, except as a name for an historical event. And so it was not until fairly recently that I came to realize that it was the Siege of Vienna (1683) – not the Siege of Constantinople, as I had originally thought – that served as the inspiration for J.R.R. Tolkien’s Siege of Minas Tirith, and the Ride of the Rohirrim (who, though portrayed as mounted Anglo-Saxons, filled the role of the Polish Winged Hussars which were King Jan Sobieski III’s elite shock troops) which broke it.

Of King Jan of Poland, the original poster of this link had this to say:

“Jan Sobieski was one of the most extraordinary and visionary monarchs of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1674 until his death. He was a man of letters, an artistic person, a dedicated ruler but above all the greatest soldier of his time. Popular among his subjects, he won considerable fame for his decisive victory over the Ottomans at the walls of Vienna (1683). For defeating the Muslim invaders, Pope Innocent XI hailed Sobieski as the saviour of Christendom.”

Indeed! Had not King Jan Sobieski succeeded in lifting the Siege of Vienna, the history of Europe, and indeed the world, would have worked out far differently. The first among equals among our own Founders, George Washington, Father of our Country, frequently credited Divine Providence with intervening in our struggle for independence. I agree, but I also think that one of the chief agents of that intervention was George Washington himself. I think that much the same could be said of Jan Sobieski! But it was not the founding of a new nation that was the goal and the outcome, but the preservation of Christian civilization, and of the West itself.

His story should be known and recounted much more widely, in my opinion!

“It’s too late for Germany”: German activist admits she got it wrong on immigration

“It’s too late for Germany”: German activist and advocate admits she got it wrong on immigration, plans to emigrate to Poland

Source: “It’s too late for Germany” | Diversity Macht Frei

This young German woman, Rebecca Sommer, founded an NGO dedicated to promoting, encouraging, and assisting Angela Merkel’s “open borders” policy that let literally hundreds of thousands of supposed “refugees,” most of them from Middle Eastern and African nations, into Germany.

Now – rather belatedly! – she has seen the error of her ways… and plans to relocate to Poland, which is staunch in its opposition to open borders, noting, “If Poland and Hungary do not give in on this question, you could become countries that some Germans and French will flee to. You could become islands of stability in Europe.”

She writes,

“At that time [2012-2015] I wanted to help everyone and truly believed that all these people were fleeing hell and were in a state of complete distress,” the German activist explained in an article published by the conservative Polish weekly Do Rzeczy on 15 January, discussing how she woke up to reality…

”I thought their medieval view was going to change with time…but after having seen these situations occur repeatedly and observing what was happening around me, as a volunteer, I have had to recognise that the Muslim refugees have grown up with values that are totally different, they have undergone brainwashing from childhood on and are indoctrinated by Islam and absolutely do not intend to adopt our values. Worse, they regard we infidels with disdain and arrogance.

“It was a jarring perception when I noticed that these people I had helped, who were eating, drinking, dancing and laughing with me, who didn’t pray, who didn’t go to the mosque, who didn’t respect Ramadan, who made fun of religion and deeply religious people, called me ‘the stupid German whore’ when they were eating my food and were in my garden.”

Furthermore,

Rebecca Sommer says she is not an isolated case, that many other volunteers also came ultimately to have the same perception and that there are now far fewer volunteers ready to work with the new arrivals today in Germany. She also acknowledges that, through their numbers, these Muslim immigrants pose a threat to the German way of life, and that this will get worse with family reunification.

Whether or not it is truly “too late” for Germany remains to be seen. But it is indeed very late! And I hope and pray that the rest of the West, including the United States, will listen and learn from this individual’s account of the situation there, so that we do not repeat the same mistakes.

BELWEDER DECLARATION: “The Charter of Real Farming and Real Food”

Source: BELWEDER DECLARATION: “The Charter of Real Farming and Real Food”

Poland’s farmers speak up for “real farming and real food”:

Having in mind respect for the beautiful traditions of peasant family farms, which in a unique way contribute towards the preservation of culture and biodiversity of crops in the Polish countryside and the best foods available in Europe;

recognising [sic] the key role of small and medium farms in the protection and preservation of food sovereignty that is essential for the basic supply of food for the Nation;

and believing that the only way that can guarantee optimal health and good condition of natural environment is the promotion of a diet based on local high-quality foods and the preservation of country landscape marked by natural biodiversity,

we demand that the President and the Polish Government:

Immediately start implementing a conscious policy whose aim is the protection and promotion of true qualities of the Polish countryside which serve the Polish Nation, and which are currently being irrevocably devastated by rapid globalisation and development of industrial farming,

[and to] remove the restrictions concerning the possibility to buy a full range of products from local farmers by shops, schools, restaurants and other institutions…

We urge the President and the Polish Government to protect the unique geographical and historical strength of Poland based on traditional Polish countryside and create/draw a new vision of farming in order to prevent the imminent global catastrophe that threatens life and health of mankind and biodiversity.

“Europe, rise from your knees…”

Europe, rise from your knees - Polish PM

Indeed.

Prime Minister of Poland Beata Maria Szydło makes a cogent comment in the wake of the Manchester bombing in England, where a Moslem suicide bomber, the British-born son of immigrants from Libya, killed 22 mostly teenage female (or pre-teen, in some cases) concert-goers and wounded 60 more. Most recent news is that two brothers and the father of the bomber have also been arrested, one in Britain and the others in Libya. Police are investigating ties to both ISIS and al-Qaeda.

Most official news reports seem to focus on Manchester remaining “united” and not letting this latest horrific incident “divide our community.” Sure, Britain, Europe, continue cuddling the vipers to your breast, and wondering why you’re getting bit…
