The Burning of Notre Dame and the Destruction of Christian Europe | Gatestone Institute

“Notre Dame is more than 800 years old. It survived the turbulence of the Middle Ages, the Reign of Terror of the French Revolution, two World Wars and the Nazi occupation of Paris. It did not survive what France is becoming in the 21st century.”

Sobering.

“French President Emmanuel Macron, who had never even mentioned the attacks on Saint Denis or Saint Sulpice, quickly went to Notre Dame and declared, ‘Notre Dame is our history, our literature, our imagination.’ He totally left out cathedral’s religious dimension…

“For the foreseeable future, the heart of Paris will bear the terrible scars of a fire that devastated far more than a cathedral. The fire destroyed an essential part of what is left of the almost-lost soul of France and what France could accomplish when the French believed in something higher than their own day-to-day existence.”

Ah, ma Françe! Qu’est ce qui t’es arrivé? Où vas-tu et que seras-tu quand tu arriveras?

(Ah, my France! What has happened to you? Where are you going, and what will you be when you arrive?)

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy…

Hungary’s illegal immigration plunges over 99% after building border fence | One America News

“Orbán’s nationalist approach seems to be working: Hungary’s economy is booming, its birth-rate is up, marriages are increasing, and abortions and divorces are on the decline. And for Hungary, that all started by simply building a border fence.”

The West Is Stirring | John Waters | First Things

No European Union Parliament

The people of the West are stirring in their slumber.

In response to a recent “Manifesto” by “30 Pro-Europe Intellectuals” (informally sub-titled in many media reports, “Europe is coming apart before our eyes”), John Waters writes,

“It soon becomes clear that what we have here is not ‘30 Pro-Europe Intellectuals’ but ‘30 Pro-European Union intellectuals,’ an entirely different kettle of drummer boys…

“These intellectuals sarcastically dismiss Europeans’ current craving to ‘reconnect with their national souls.’ ‘Abstractions such as ‘soul’ and ‘identity’ often exist only in the imagination of demagogues,’ they declare.”

Must be nice to be able to so blithely dismiss the highest aspirations of not only Europeans, but humans, over centuries and millennia as “abstractions” that “only exist in the imagination”! But indeed, these so-called, self -defined “intellectuals” do seem lacking in both soul and identity, so it’s no wonder they find these things irrelevant or dangerous. In Waters’ words,

“The failure of the E.U. project is causally related to Europe’s retreat from its rich Christian heritage. That retreat has left a vacuum that economics, liberalism, and materialism have failed to fill. A bogus liberalism has attacked and all but destroyed the three fundamental pillars of human society in Europe: family, Church, and nation. Yet all three are capable of resurgence at any moment. Early signs of such resurgence are what scared the E.U. intellectuals into print.”

The irony is that these “intellectuals” think they are avant-garde, cutting edge. In reality, it is they – not those they mock and decry – who are the dinosaurs, lurching toward extinction. Europe – the ordinary people of Europe, replete with both soul and identity – is on the verge of a major Awakening; indeed, it has already begun. As Waters points out,

“A revolution is happening across the free world. It is not a revolution of the ‘Right,’ ‘alt-right,’ or ‘far right,’ but a revolution from the concrete center, from the places where working people live and work to build, fix, paint, and clean the world as their antecedents did for thousands of years. It is fundamentally a reaction against lies, intimidation, official stupidity, and political correctness.

“It is already sweeping Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Sweden, and the countries of the Eastern bloc. It is at the back of Brexit and Donald Trump. It may not be an ‘intellectual’ movement, but it is a movement rooted in a deep and ancient intelligence — the intelligence of the human heart — which has beat for several thousand years at the center of the greatest civilization the world has ever seen.

“The people of the West are stirring in their slumber. Yes, Europe is coming apart at the seams, but not in the ways the E.U. intellectuals divine. What they call ‘the bonfire of our freedoms’ has already happened” – indeed, they and their ilk were the ones doing the burning – “and the people who make and fix things are building a new Europe in the ashes of the old.”

Viva Europa! May the new Awakening grow, burgeon, and flourish across that great continent and among its people, and beyond!

The End of London, Prepare Yourself | Stefan Molyneux

Talk about your “inconvenient truth.”

This is sobering. Saddening. Angering. I loved London, when I was there in 1985 and again in 1990. (I also wanted to visit Paris some day. Not in its current state…) “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life!” exclaimed Samuel Johnson, in 1777.  What a different 241 years make!

And of course, what is true of London (and other major cities in England, and increasingly throughout the British Isles) is true of many other places in Europe, and could rapidly become true of the United States, too, if those who support the migrant “caravans” – along with “sanctuary cities,” and similar inanities – have their way.

This video is not going to be an easy or popular one to listen to, especially for those who are still sucking at the teat of the dominant “liberal”/progressive narrative. Stefan Molyneux says things that are not going to go down easily, for some. But that does not make them wrong.

Unfortunately, he is all too right.

“Diversity is our strength.”

Bullshit.

Bullshit.

Bullshit.

Sorry, not sorry, for the language.

God damn – and I mean that quite literally, may God Almighty condemn to destruction in this life and perdition in the next – those who, in the name of an insane, twisted obsession with so-called “diversity,” are seeking to destroy the West, and its culture, history, and civilization (including, not incidentally, Christianity and the Judeo-Christian tradition). God damn them to Hell.

Lessons from Nature: invasive aliens

I have spent a lot of years of my life teaching outdoor and environmental education, conservation education, and sustainable agriculture education. And one thing I have learned, as a guiding principle, is that the natural world can often serve as a lens through which to view human society with greater clarity and awareness.

Let me cite one example, which seems to be impinging itself upon us, here in the West, with greater and greater urgency:

It is now a commonplace, among the “talking heads” of the Western media, political, and academic elite, that “diversity is a strength.” Some even go so far as to say that diversity is “our” strength. The notion is not completely without merit: there is a type of diversity which can be a strength.

The biologist and ecologist E.O. Wilson, for example, has demonstrated how biodiversity can greatly enhance resilience: the ability of, for example, a natural forest ecosystem to resist the impacts of a changing climate, or infestation by pests or diseases, especially as compared to a monoculture tree plantation, or a grain farm.

But – and this is a big “but”! – this is true only of a certain type of diversity, the sort which comes about naturally, over centuries or even millennia. An example in the natural world might be a healthy forest, meadow, or wetland. And example in human society might be the tremendous diversity of cultures, customs, and tradition which make up the vibrant tapestry of Europe.

Ecologists have long recognized the existence of a category of organisms to which “human ecologists” appear oblivious (or, more accurately, feel socially and politically constrained to ignore or deny): invasive aliens, which often find fertile soil in a new ecosystem, in which are there few or no natural controls to limit their spread. Invasive aliens in their original locality are perfectly fine and non-disruptive, because there are natural controls that limit their spread, and prevent them from getting out of hand.

Are We Erasing History?

Many have borrowed philosopher George Santayana’s famous phrase: “Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it,” but in our current political climate, some fear we are currently in the process of erasing history.

“Pulling down Confederate statues in the Southern United States, and ISIS members burning and destroying documents, monuments and artifacts that date back thousands of years–these are but two examples of people struggling to come to terms with not only the facts of history, but also its ever-present reminders…

“It may not be the popular stance today, but Parsons believes that if we censure objects and reminders, censuring memory could be the natural next step. He concludes: “You can tear down all the statues of Douglas Bader and his dog, but history will never be a safe space…historical correctness does not change the past, it does not improve the present. It offers no hope for the future.”

An excellent article. Read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest!
